Kickstart Worship - The Importance of Listening and Learning

Jun 21, 2026

In a world drowning in information yet starving for truth, we're invited to rediscover how God reveals Himself to us through three powerful channels: creation, Scripture, and the Holy Spirit. Drawing from Psalm 19, we learn that creation itself is preaching a sermon every single day—the sunrise, the ocean, even those dramatic South Florida thunderstorms declare God's glory. The beauty and diversity we see around us tell us that God loves uniqueness and delights in variety, which has profound implications for how we view ourselves and others in the body of Christ. But creation can only take us so far. Through 2 Timothy 3:16-17, we discover that Scripture isn't just another book—it's God-breathed, given not to win arguments or impress others, but to know Him intimately. The purpose of Scripture is transformation, not merely information. Sometimes it comforts us, and sometimes it confronts us, shining light into corners we'd rather keep dark. Most powerfully, John 1 reminds us that God's ultimate revelation came wrapped in flesh—Jesus Christ, the Word made human who moved into our neighborhood. Every verse, every prophet, every truth points to Him. When we study Scripture, we're not trying to become theological know-it-alls; we're seeking to recognize Christ's voice above all the competing noise of our world. The question has never been whether God is speaking—it's whether we're listening.
