Bag Lunch
Bag Lunch operates every Saturday rain or shine. CROS ministries Caring Kitchen provides hot meals to the needy and homeless on week days, and we give out bag lunches for the weekend.
St. Edwards Church in West Palm Beach is our partner. They prepare, provide and deliver 2 ham and cheese sandwiches and juice and pudding for each lunch plus extra sandwiches for if we run out of lunches. We provide a non-perishable lunch to go along with the lunch provided by St. Edwards and do the distributing from Cason.
We pick up bread and pastries from 3 different Publix locations in the area every Saturday morning We put lunches together in the Fellowship Hall from 8:00 A.M. till 9:00 A.M. We distribute usually from our south parking lot (occasionally the north parking lot) from 9:00 A.M. till about 9:40 A.M.
Every 4 Wednesdays we pack 640 non-perishable lunches here at Cason. We usually give out about 160 lunches every week. We have very wonderful, dedicated volunteers who faithfully come help on Saturdays to prepare and distribute and on Wednesdays to purchase and pack, and they do it all with a smile!
Our inspiration comes from Jesus words in Matthew 25:35-40. “I was hungry and you gave me food. I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink.” — “Lord, when did we see you hungry and give you food, or thirsty and give you something to drink?” — “I tell you the truth, anything you did for even the least of my people here, you also did for me.”
