Family Promise: October 11-25

We need your help to give shelter at the church to 4 transitionally homeless families with children.

We need:

a few more people to spend the night (one man, one woman) To volunteer to spend the night click here. Yes, You can sleep.

People to give one evening to hospitality (5:00-8:00)

People to prepare evening meals each evening

Food the families can use to make there own breakfast and bag lunches. For more information or sign up click here.

Check out our website! It's going up - one button at a time. It is, of course, not anywhere near done, but you can click on the Community Garden button and the calendar button and see where it takes you. My sister, Carol Welch, from Dallas, TX, is the webmaster (she's volunteering) and is working on it every evening after teaching art all day in an elementary school. Nancy Hart is working on the calendar. Everyday more and more of the buttons are coming to life, so check back often and see what's next!!

If you are in charge of a ministry and want to write up your ministry, send it to her at painterintexas@verizon.net like Candy Evans and Lori Robbins did for the Community Garden. She will get it up on the website (after approval).

THIS SUNDAY AT CHURCH

Giving Birth to Character is the name of the new Sermon Series beginning this Sunday. The sermon is entitled Is Your Soul Healthy or Anorexic?

There is no epideral shot to relieve the labor pains of giving birth to character. We grow and change a little every day and the person that wakes up tomorrow in your skin will be a bit different than the person you are today. Sometimes life is hard - sometimes it's a walk in the park, but character is what helps you figure out if you are going to wake up tomorrow better or bitter.

We will look at the state of your soul through the lens of 2 Corinthians 3:16-18 and I can't wait to talk with you about this Sunday.

The Pumpkins Are Coming!!

October 10! 9:00 a.m. to noon we will unload pumpkins from the semi coming to us from New Mexico.

If you can help unload, we would LOVE your help. The patch opens at noon and lunch will be served to all our unloaders!!

Don't forget: THE FALL FESTIVAL WILL BE HELD ON OCTOBER 24, 10:00 A.M. TO 2:00 PM and will include the opening of the expanded Community Garden, food, games, a cake walk, a bounce house, animals, a hayride, crafts, music, and all kinds of fun for children of all ages.
