Adults

  Adult Classes and Groups

The Christian life is not meant to be lived alone. We were created for connection – with God and with one another.  Yet each of us must take our own path, one where God is leading us to grow deeper in faith and become more like Christ each day.

DISCIPLE 1:  BECOMING DISCIPLES THROUGH BIBLE STUDY

(32 week study + Closing Retreat)

Beginning with Genesis and continuing through Revelation, participants will read approximately 80% of the Bible during this life-changing study.  It is designed not only to increase your knowledge of the Bible, but to lead you into a deeper faith and more committed discipleship on your faith journey.  During this class, you will discover your spiritual gifts and where God is calling you in ministry.  This study involves about an hour of reading time each day, as well as participation in a 2.5 hour small group time each week.  There is no prerequisite required.

If you are ready to go deeper in your faith,
consider becoming a part of a Wesley Group or starting one soon.

What is a Wesley Group?

A Wesley group is made up of 6 to 14 people who come together to build relationships through encouragement, accountability, guidance, and prayer so that all members experience life transformation through Christ. These groups are patterned after John Wesley’s class meetings.

Why meet in a Wesley Group?

God designed people for community. Each of us has a desire "to belong" somewhere.  It is in belonging with others that we better understand and live out the Christian life.  It is also in close community life that we take care of each other’s needs as we serve each other in love and faithfulness.

What do Wesley Groups do?

Wesley groups practice four things together:

Create close community and fellowship with one another.

Study the Bible and help each other apply it to their daily lives.

Participate in serving each other and in mission to the community.
Pray for the needs of friends, neighbors, the church, and each other.

Where do Wesley Groups meet?

Our current Wesley group meets at the home of Bill and Mable McDonough, but a Wesley Group can meet in a member's home or in the church building.  We are also always supportive of individuals who are interested in starting a new group in their community.

How often do Wesley Groups meet?

Many Wesley groups meet every week for 1.5 to 2 hours, (although some of our groups meet every other week.

What Is the Time Commitment?

Groups begin with an initial commitment of nine months. At the end of that time, the group will evaluate where it is at and decide on next steps.

Who Leads a Wesley Group?

Each group will have two co-facilitators who lead the group. These facilitators will equip others in the group to share in leadership of studies, service, prayer, and fellowship.
